Re: Results much "weaker" than Preview.

Harry, Leigh described the problem as if he were in my head. Many years ago I mentioned this problem to you and the issue still exists today. At 100% in FocalBlade Plugin the results appear prominent. But, once FB hands it back to Photoshop, you can barely see the difference at 100%. I ALWAYS have t...

CMYK

Hi,

I will soon be working on a project in CMYK and I can't see sharpening without FocalBlade. Do you have plans to make the program work for this color space?

Thanks,
Mike

Hi Harald, I thought that the pixel radius would also change with the size of the print because the number of pixels that represent the same "visual area" varies with size. So, if the edge of the birds bill is 2 pixels on a small print, it might be 5 pixels on a large one, right? So the radius for e...

Sharpening Different Sizes of the Same Image

Hi, When creating a master print, I make a separate sharpening layer so that the process remains nondestructive. I often mask this sharpening layer in Photoshop. I only sharpen this sharpening layer to see the effect, then create the mask. I then simply save the mask and discard the sharpening layer...

Well, if you need any feedback or need someone to test the implementation of the variable sharpening feature, I'd be glad to help.

Harald, Funny, I was going to ask in the last posting if it would ever be possible to vary the sharpening for different parts of an image. If you would add this variable sharpening to FB would put it in a league of its own. Were you planning on introducing a way to tweak the automatic results that F...

I guess I should have said that my main photographic subjects are landscapes, but not so much distant mountains or shots of The West. My shots are primarily of the nature found in the Chicago area, which is quite a lot. I usually have very detailed foregrounds filled with wildflowers in prairies and...

Thanks for the reply. My files are from 100 to 300MB in size and viewing at 100% gives me a very, very small area in the viewing window that probably would not be representative of the entire photograph. Therefore, after sampling an area that I feel is correct, I then zoom in to 100% to see how it r...

FocalBlade: Parameters change as I zoom or move in window

I'm a bit confused about what's going on. The Automatic Parameters change as I zoom or move to different areas within the image window. However, these parameters shouldn't vary since I have one unchanging area for FB to sample. Here's what I do to create the problem: 1) I first set Auto Sharpen, Aut...

Hi, I'd recommend Noise Ninja. I think it's a little easier to use, uses similar wavelet technology, but it causes fewer digital arifacts than Neat Image. Plus, you can try the Noise Ninja as a demo. Neat Image has a partial standalone demo that can't open certain file types and clunky stuff like th...
