I think that shortly after Adobe bought Aldus, Adobe's right to Photostyler was challenged. Aldus did not have the right to sell it because they were only licensing it.

Re: Sketching Plugins

Ray. I was able to duplicate the result of the Sketch Effect action, using this photo to start with http://www.wga.hu/frames-e.html?/html/b/botticel/5allegor/33birth.html . I used the Sketch and Color filter in FilterForge. The Sketch and Color filter in Filter Forge is based on a standard Photoshop...

Re: Sketching

Hi Ray. The sketching plugins have different styles, and some work better on some photos than on others. So you might find something to like in more than one. In addition to the plugins others have suggested, I will add AKVIS Sketch. http://akvis.com/en/sketch/index.php. It is not the fastest, but s...

There are probably better ways to do this, but I just ran a quick test to see what I could get. On the photo I tested, these settings gave me a reasonable effect. Using Photoshop CS 1. Saturation Adjustment Layer set to -80 2. Levels adjustment layer with center slider set to 0.57 3. Photo Filter ad...

Duplicates only have to be deleted IF you create a single shortcut to the root plugin folder in Photoshop 7. If you create multiple shortcuts that point only to third-party plugins or their folders, then you don't have to delete any duplicates. This will also allow you to leave PS 7 in full working ...

Someone told me that Capture One works pretty well, despite having an unusual interface. I can't vouch for it myself, though.

Hi Marc. Transforming a photo into a painting depends a lot on the starting photo. But there are plugins that try to do this. Harry mentioned two of them, and there is also Virtual Painter. And a standalone application called PhotoArtMaster. Aside from this, there are less automated techiques for tu...

Gad, I just reread your question and realized I was not even answering in the same State, let alone ballpark. Well, I might as well risk making another bad suggestion. You could ask over in the sci.image.processing newsgroup to see if anyone has heard of such a process. It might not be in the form o...

Re: Wanted: Plugin to make thin lines thick

I have no idea if this is what you are asking for, but I developed a method for thickening lines after I converted a photo to a sketch. Here is the link: http://www.retouchpro.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5852 Just scroll down to the message called "Intensify" and the section called "Thicke...

I'm having trouble figuring out what to suggest. The dollar bill is engraved, and this doesn't look like pen and ink to me. But if this is really the look he wants, then the Cutline filter is the closest I've seen.

Anisotropic Diffusion Plugin?

With version 7, Photoshop added an anisotropic diffusion option to its diffuse plugin. It does the kind of anisotropic diffusion that is usually called "coherance-enhancing." It's a very useful effect because it has a way of refining lines. Very useful for refining renderings used in photo-art and o...
