While preparing the LightMachine example for my Plugs 'N Pixels calendar I was having some trouble with the spot light not behaving as expected (moving the existing light resulted in it going dark, even when viewed in mask mode). I eventually got it working after resetting a few times and trying aga...

Hi Harald,

All seems well tonight. I did have Auto Preview checked earlier; I'm not sure what I missed.

Never mind! ;-)

I was attempting to create some LightMachine examples last night in Mac OS-X/Photoshop CS2 and no matter what settings or presets I chose, the preview did not show any change--whether in full or split mode.

It was late so I did not pursue it further, but I intend to soon.

And those of you who already choked down the 684 meg beta may be having problems with getting a trial serial number to take you beyond the 2-day grace period! There are all sorts of tales of woe on the Adobe forums, myself included.

Plugs 'N Pixels website: Domain name revision

Just a heads-up that the URL for Plugs 'N Pixels has changed slightly due to a domain renewal adventure (the original domain may yet renew next week; we shall see. If so, it will be forwarded to the new one). New URL: http://www.plugsandpixels.com Please update your bookmarks! All hyperlinks in the ...

Hmm, I don't see PSP support listed on their website, though it is an *.8bf plug-in. Perhaps you can try the demo just to see if it works, or send an email to the developers with your request.

Next time I'm in Windows (I'm Mac-based), I'll try it with PSP XI.

New Portraiture plug-in just out

I just got ahold of the new Portraiture plug-in from Imagenomic. Portraiture does a fantastic job with detail smoothing and softening skin tones (and skin tones only if desired!).

Check out the offerings from Digital Film Tools , who make still and video effects for Hollywood. I see from their website (linked from this page) that they support Avid, AfterEffects and Final Cut Pro, so maybe there's hope. The folks at Digital Anarchy also offer plug-ins for video, including Prem...

CassyCat, if you still have that dead computer, maybe you can migrate its hard drive to a newer box and recover all your stuff. I did this today with an iMac G5 that has the bulging capacitor problem (I manage computer labs in higher ed). I swapped its hard drive into another similar iMac that happe...

Now it sounds like the KPT Collection : "KPT Goo – smear, smudge, twirl, pinch or "finger-paint" an image to produce stunning liquid distortion effects or short animations". It seems there are several plug-ins to do this. Have you tried a Google search? Also, is there no hope of recovering your data...

Hi Jerry,

Sounds almost like Photoshop's Liquify tool, but you say it was a standalone. For Windows? Maybe Squizz?

See other Distortion options at this link.

Understood; it just seems like a playground with barbed wire and armed security guards watching the children play. Perhaps you can look at a bunch of those other forums I linked and see how they handle things. The do have rules, of course, but they're not posted on an imposing iron door. And their v...

They frightened me so much I chose not to proceed for fear of getting banned! May I suggest that like the majority of foru...
