CDM Surrogate

My laptop often pops up an error message saying something is wrong with the "CDM Surrogate." This web site is the only place where I've seen this mentioned (in a thread on Paint Shop Pro which I don't have on my computer). What is this CDM Surrogate? How do I find it and get rid of it?
