Well, if PP8 doesn't do a correct CMYK conversion, there is not much you can do about it. Maybe a later version does it correctly.
Many plugins should work with PP8, but some may cause trouble and crashes. For example my ColorWasher plugin deactivates the zoom buttons when it runs in PP8 to avoid potential crashes.
Picture Publisher is as good as dead since Corel bought Micrografx. They don't sell and develop it anymore, because it competes with their Photo-Paint product. So that's why it is difficult to get any help for Picture Publisher.
