I like the pattern clone tool, but is there some way to add patterns? I see the pattern files have extension name of .pat.

How do you get pictures into .pat files?

I think thee is a feature for sampling a pattern from an images, but I never did that, so I don't know the exact steps. maybe someone else can help. You'll surely find it somewhere explained in the Photoshop manula or help files.
