Like any other craft or art it takes plenty of practice to use your tools with near perfection. That's also true for Photoshop. I think the images you saw were done by people who have used Photoshop extensively for years.
If you keep on using Photoshop, you will certainly have small WOW expereinces from time to time after you mastered certain techniques. But you can't expect to produce professional results within one or two weeks.
