Photoshop halftones

I produce illustrations for newspapers and would like top add halftones for shading, etc. Is there an easy way to do this in Photoshop?

Hi There,
I believe that you could select the area you want to add half tones in and then apply the built in filter in PS to add the amount you want to for the correct amount of shade.

Hi,

As far as I know you don't have to do anything more than select an area and apply your gray tone...no special filters need to be used to create the half-tone unless you want a custom half-tone like a widely spaced dot pattern for example or a special screen effect which are available. The press settings you make under color settings will determine the dot pattern ordinarily.......... ie. Image file size of 200 for 100 lpi output and dot gain of 30% is typical for newsprint settings.
