Converting Sony's 'SRF' (RAW) format to Tiff or........

I have the new Sony DSC F828 8MP Cybershot and among the various
formats Sony has added the .raw format. (It's a SRF file).
Unfortunately it's only accessible using the supplied 'Image Data
Converter' software which has very few functions. My PhotoShop 7,
PaintShop Pro 8, ACDSee 6.0 or any others won't open this SRF file
so I can convert it to say a .tiff so I can work with it in
Photoshop. Has anyone heard of any plugin or program that will open
this type of Raw format file so it can be converted? I'm glad Sony
added the Raw format to the Tiff & Jpeg formats but wish they would
have made it a more universally accepted form of Raw.
This is not a huge issue because the difference in size between
.raw & .tiff is only about 6mb but I'd like to see if there are
significant quality differences between the two formats.
