Is there such a thing as a clarify/sharpen image plugin

Is there such a thing a a clarify/sharpen image plugin for an older version (4,5,6,7) of psp?
One that won't leave junk all over the image.
If not is there a plugin that will cleanup the junk without also removing the image clarity/sharpness).
I am not sure if I will be understood here, I a newbie at this.
