.dds files

Post by stevea1975 »

Hello everyone. I am new to the whole photo editing world and I need a little help. Please forgive me if this isn't the appropriate area for my question. A little background is in order I guess. What I am trying to do is use Paint Shop Pro XI to create mods for a game I play. I need to be able to save and edit .dds files, so I have visited http://developer.nvidia.com/object/phot ... ugins.html and downloaded the plug-ins. When I attempt to open a .dds file, I get this error: Plugin caused an access violation. If anyone can help or knows where I need to look for help, I would be forever in their debt. Thank you
Steve

My guess is that they did only develop the plugins for Photoshop and that they don't really work with PSP. So you will probably need Photoshop or Photoshop Elements to use these plugins.

Thanks Harald. I honestly think I am just doing something wrong though because there is a tutorial I have found that says I can use PSP for this task. Unfortunately, I can find no contact info for the author of the tutorial.

Maybe the plugins only work with an older version of PSP. But it could also be something about your system that makes the plugin crash.

Harald,
Thank you for taking the time to reply. I guess I will have to figure out another way of doing this.
