Scanning negitives

I too have a scanner to scan negitives but I have never been happy with the results.. and others don't seem to do it any better... we are just home users not pros.....lol
What I did is take the negs to my local Kodak one hour and had her print them up for me and also put them on a disk.......nice. That way if the negs just fall apart I have them saved.......
That is just what I did they were to important to me to worry about the damage and they looked better than the original photos.....
