I was trying out some of the effects in Corel photo-paint 9 and I accidentally saved the picture with the "solarize" effect. Is there any way I can get the original picture back or reverse the "solarize effect"?

Try applying the Solarize effect again and experiment with the control(s). If you are lucky you might get the original image back.
