Digital camera tinge

If possible I would like to know if there is a plug-in that helps clean up the blue tinge that you get around things in digital photos. I have heard that there is but dont know where to start looking for it.

The correct term for that is chromatic aberration (sometimes also called purple fringing). Paint Shop Pro 9 offers such a filter. Photoshop CS also offers it from RAW files.

There are probably some standalone applications available that help you with chromatic aberrations. I don't know of any Photoshop-compatible plugin for it, but I haven't looked around yet. I will probably do soon. Would certainly be a nice topic for my Essential Plugins column in the Digital Photo Effects magazine.

DxO Optics Pro offers correction for this problem for some cameras. You can find a link to it on the site Steves-digicams.com under software and then under pro utilities. They will list which cameras this software can now correct, and they are also working on others.

A quick fix is to roughly select the area and reduce colour saturation. This can work really well on tree branches which often show this effect against a sky. Desaturating means it becomes less visible but doesn't introduce selection edge artifacts as selecting the fringing would do.

Hi,
One thing I have had good results with is in PS CS. I do alot of knockouts and when I've selected the subject I go to Layers/Matting/defringe. A box pops up and then select just the default(1) pixel.
Works well, try it and see for yourself. You can also just contract your selection by however many pixels you want by going to select/Modify/Contract.

I hate this blue tingle on digital photos! I guess that the problem of many cameras, sometimes I think that I should get another camera with a better quality, I guess that is the only solution that I have found for myself.
