Anybody know if there is a plugin to create a drop shadow effect where the image looks raised. Preferably without using some of the image (as most border filters do).
I have seen web sites for photographers where the whole image looks raised from the page with a shadow all round or with angled lighting.

This is a professional photographers site with all images treated the same way. I suspect there must be a quick way to apply the shadow and frame.

I saw some Photoshop actions that produce these shadow frames. There are probably some PSP scripts, too, for this purpose. You can also easily create an action yourself.
I don't think that professional or serious photographers frame their images that way. Some may play with framing their photos for some time, but I heard from several people that they dropped the habit. If a photo doesn't speak for itself, a frame doesn't help much. And if it does, the frame only distracts.
I know some designers that create stunning images with frames, but they use a different frame for each image and selecting the right frame for a certain image needs quite some time.
By the way, If you want to have a look on how I presented some of my older photos, see
