RE: Access Virtual Painter from PhotoShop and Painter

I purchased/installed PaintshopPro Anniversary. Then purchased the download Virtual Painter program and installed in my c:\Plugins folder. I AM able to use the Virtual Painter filters in PaintShop Pro with NO watermarks..

I use shortcuts in Photoshop and Painter to direct them to programs in my plugin folder. I am not having trouble with the other plugins in this folder...Painter and PhotoShop "see" them.

They do NOT "see" Virtual Painter.

I had no apparent problems with my INSTALL of Virtual Painter download.

When I looked in the c:\plugins\virtual painter folder...the virtual painter.exe is not there...I found it here: c:\windows\installer\{cab34...

In the Virtual Painter folder is a cab file, setup.ini, setup.exe and 3 installer files...

Any Ideas? Your reply appreciated!

There should be an .8bf file in your Virtual Painter folder to have it appear in an graphic application. Maybe you should try to install it again.

I was told that Virtual Painter causes problems in Plugin Commander Pro. Maybe Virtual Painter is not a very compatible plugin, I do not know.

The 8bf files are in the data.cab file...if I copy them into the photoshop plugin folder I am able to use the filter. But will this method degrade performance in photoshop? Maybe I am better off just opening the file in PaintShopPro if I want to use that filter?

Thanks!

One more plugin won't affect Photoshop's perfomance noticeably. There could be a problem if you have several hundred plugins installed in Photoshop.

The REAL plugins (.8bf) should be here:
C:\Program Files\Jasc Software Inc\Paint Shop Pro 7\Plugins\VirtualPainter
You may also try with a serch of the folder VirtualPainter, wich contains all the plugins (they're twelve), in your system.

By it`s nature it will always install into PSP Plugins folder and the path tends to be.. C:\Program Files\Jasc Software Inc\Paint Shop Pro 7\Plugins\VirtualPainter. If like many of us you put all yer plugins into yer main packages plugins folder and then set a path to that in all other packages, thats the reason, check your plugins paths and see if you indeed have a path to Virtual Painter going to PSP plugins folder. VP is the only one i have in PSP7s plugins folder, the rest are all in Photoshops and
i just set a path to there and one to cover VP if need be.. i`m too lazy to move it. :-) Cam2
