Good morning...

Post by shaza »

I hope everyone's having a great Sunday so far!

I love that Lance Otis Mosaic Toolkit. What I am having
a problem (if you can call it that) is that the dialog box
doesnt open wide enough to see for instance the Gears
and whatever other one I'm not seeing. I can see the
Balls, Rings, Daisies etc, but not the gears, is there
anything that can be done to "widen" the dialog box?

I'm not referring to the click and drag, it will only open so far
and thats it. In fact, I cant even see the "OK" or "Cance" buttons.

I didnt even realize it had a Gears button, until I read about the
features in the plugin reviews section.

Like I said I really love these effects and would love to
use all of the features. has anyone else come across this?

Just so you know...all my other filters open all the way, so
I dont believe its any seetings on my computer, its just
with this particular plugin.

I currently use the plugin using Photoshop, PSP 8 & 9.

Thanks for any insight on this matter.

New Plugin Filter Mosaic Toolkit

Post by Lance Otis »

shaza: Mosaic Toolkit normally automatically expands so the whole dialog box can be seen. The fact that it isnt doing this on your system means that a setting needs to be changed in either Mosaic Toolkit or in the registry. Can you tell me which version you have of Mosaic Toolkit and the version of Windows you have and I will get back to you with a fix. Lance otis sends.

shaza:
1. can you put the cursor on the right edge of the Mosaic Tools dialog window and does a little double ended drag arrow appear and can you drag the window open further?
2. If not, can you right click on the Mosaic Tools title bar and select "size" and resize the window?
3. Do you have Infraview 3.97 or later installed? If so try Mosaic Tools using it and see if you can drag the Mosaic Tools dialog open.
4. If none of these not work, Windows 98 or PSP 8 may not be setup to allow drag resize of dialogs.
5. I have a later version of Mosaic Tools that I can send you via email that you can try. email: lanceo@silverlink.net.

I saw that there was a newer version, version2
and I downloaded it, and tried it in PSP 8 to see if the
smaething happens, and it did.

Yes, I get the double arrow when I put it on the side
of the plugin, but it wont widen any further, I can
give it as much height as high as my screen goes,
but cant get the width.
I dont have IrfanView, and all of the plugins resize
with no problems at all. So I am not sure why I cant get
it to get wider.
In the version 1.07, it would only widen as far as the
edge of the "OK" button.
In version 2...I dont even see the edge of the OK button
strange..right?

I also tried it in PSP 9 and the samething happens.

OK. I will look into it.

Sorry for the problem. Maybe someone else has had a similar problem. I use FilterMeister as my compiler and Moasic tools works OK on PSP 10 and Photoshop 7. I have a later version: v2.201 that adds a few more help screens and a grid option, but it may not help your problem. Maybe Harry Heim has run across this sizing problem using Win98?? I could not find anything on the Forum site.

shaza: one more thought: the Mosaic Tools dialog box is 520 dialog units wide and 180 deep. Maybe your screen size settings prohibit widening the view???
I'll keep looking into the problem. I just recompiled the program and added one more resize directive to the end of the setup - this may help - if you want to try version 2.021.

shaza: I added an undocumented feature from FilterMeister that adds a resize grip to the lower righthand corner of the dialog box. This works OK on my two XP and Win2000 test boxes and allows draging the size bigger. If you want to test this version, email me via private email to the email address in my previous reply.

The updated mosaic plug-in filter for Adobe PhotoShop or Paint Shop Pro was sent along with the ReadMe info file in a zip file via separate correpondence.

Further tests of MosaicTools v2.021 on three test boxes running XP, Win2000, and Win98 with Irfanview 3.98, PSP10, and Adobe PS7 indicate that the filter can be resized OK. Review of group discussions relative to PSP8/9 indicate that it may be the problem. Try using the resize tab in the lower right-hand corner of the dialog box. If the resize tab does not show, then PSP may be the problem.
