Printing using an ink jet printer

Postby donjraw » Tue Oct 31, 2006 4:51 pm

I have not tried B/W Styler as yet. My problem is that B/W photos on my Epson Photo R380 or Canon i960 do not have the quality of a B/W produced in a darkroom-the image lacks a true B/W gray scale. My question is: does B/W Styler offset the tendency of ink jet printers to produce washed out grays? I use Photoshop Elements. I'll buy the B/W Styler in a minute if it fixes this problem. Thanks. Don :D

Do you mean that the prints have a low contrast? Of course you can increase the contrast of B/W images with B/W Styler, but that should also be possible in Photoshop Elements itself.

I guess you will only get really great B/W prints if you use special B/W ink cartridges. There are more expensive printers with different grey tone inks and there are also grey ink replacements for the color inks for certain printers.
