Well, if you were *really* desperate you could just buy them and be off to work ;-). Aside from that, the Machine Wash plug-ins seem to be an interface for adjusting and applying common textures to images. You could probably do this yourself by creating or downloading your own textures, then using blending modes and varying levels of opacity to apply them to your images.

Of course, the whole point of plug-ins is to make this effort as easy and flexible as possible by use of sliders in an interface. Doing it yourself is cheaper but a lot harder, so you end up paying in a different way.

BTW, if one already has Machine Wash, try applying the textures to a blank image. That's fun too. Makes for nice backgrounds.
