FocalBlade use of texture setting

Post by Roger_Cavanagh »

Harald,

Just bought FocalBlade - obviously, quite a lot to learn compared to most sharpening tools, so I resorted to read the manual. :D When I was playing with the demo, I used one of my standard test pictures - a close-up of a bee sucking nectar. Obviously, this picture has a lot of fine detail in the bee's hair and wings and also the flower has a lot of bristles. I selected the "very fine details" setting. Having read the manual description, I'm not sure whether this is correct, since it suggests using "rough" or "very rough" for close-ups.

Could you please elaborate on the effect of the auto details settings?

Thanks,

A "Very Fine" Auto Details setting works fine for most images as long as the image isn't noisy or relatively blurred. Otherwise a "Rough" setting produces a better effect. It really depends on the image.

You might get very good results with "Very Fine" and "Very Rough" for close-up images. In your case it is probably best to use "Very Fine".
