Picture Publisher 8

Postby ChiefDean » Sat Jun 14, 2003 6:27 pm

Hello,

I am new to this forum and need some insight.

I have been using Picture Publisher 8 for many years and am very used to it and happy with it.

Whenever I try to convert a file from RGB (default) to CMYK it does not figure out the K part of the coversion. Typically, the K plate for black portions of the image stays at a value of 0 while C M and Y all become 255 (full strength). Most of the work I do is for the internet so this is usually not an issue. But when I send these files to a printer and they try to seperate the black plate I am in trouble.

I read on a forum that if I install a postscript printer driver I could overcome this issue. I did that today and am able to create a black plate but if I open an existing RGB file and convert it I will not get K to work (even if I drop it into a ("successful") CMYK file).

Please advise. I know I should upgrade to a newer version of this product but other than this problem it works just fine. My guess is I am doing something wrong but getting help with PP8 is difficult at best.

ALSO...what plugins from the Plugin Site are compatable with PP8??

Thanks so much,

-Dean

Well, if PP8 doesn't do a correct CMYK conversion, there is not much you can do about it. Maybe a later version does it correctly.

Many plugins should work with PP8, but some may cause trouble and crashes. For example my ColorWasher plugin deactivates the zoom buttons when it runs in PP8 to avoid potential crashes.

Picture Publisher is as good as dead since Corel bought Micrografx. They don't sell and develop it anymore, because it competes with their Photo-Paint product. So that's why it is difficult to get any help for Picture Publisher.
