Sharpen edges while blurring surfaces

Postby madde001 » Fri Dec 03, 2004 3:10 pm

Is there a way in FocalBlade in a single step to apply sharpening to the areas encompassed by the edge mask, while at the same time blurring the surfaces? If there is, I don't see it.

Looks like you can only sharpen edges/sharpen surfaces or blur edges/blur surfaces, but not sharpen edges/blur surfaces (or blur edges/sharpen surfaces).

This would be a nice option for grainy images where you want to suppress the grain in the homogeneous areas while accentuating out the edges.

Yes, it is possible. That way you can use FocalBlade for noise reduction.

In Expert Mode you have to set the Sharpen slider of the Surface tab sheet to zero and move the Soften slider knob to the right.

Try different Radius values for Edges and Surface and adjust the edge mask until you get a satisfying result.

Thanks, Harald. That's exactly what I wanted.
