PSP9 Plugins

Post by Joy »

I have just upgraded to PSP9 but alot of my plugins ie VM range, VM Distortion, VM Natural etc and a few of the other plugins appear in PSP9 but when I click on a selection it says

"paint shop pro was unable to load the requested plugin-filter. The plug-in may not be installed properly or may be missing files. (Plugin: sparkle.8bf)

My plugins work in PSP8, can you suggest anything, I have check plugins, downloaded new ones, just incase something happened to them.

Also checked I have files in System32.

Help ??

My apologies... I have just installed PSP8 to see if the plugins definitely work and they don't

What do you think is missing ??
I have the two dll's requirement, I put them in windows again and still some of the plugins are not working.

Any Ideas ??

Sounds like these two dll files can not be accessed by the plugin. Please check again if they are in your system or system32 folder.

I think that you did not indicate the files location to your PSP9 - where the plugins are. If you still have your PSP7 and your plugins work fine in PSP7, then what you should do is this:
-in your PSP9, click on File - Preferences - File location and simply browse to your Program Files/Jasc Software Inc/Paint Shop Pro 7/Plugins and add it in the files location of your PSP9.
Hope it can help you..

You should put them in the System sub folder of your Windows folder if you use Windows 95,98, ME or in the System32 sub folder of your Windows folder if you use Windows 2000, XP.

That is the exact error I keep getting with my PSP 8.10 when I try to use the VM sparkle or any of the VM filters. My Eye Candy and Super Blade Pro work fine, but I get this error every time I try to use the VM filters. I put the dlls in C/Windows/System and in C/Windows/System32. I have XP and thought that was where they should go, but still can't get the filters to work.

Please try placing them in the main PSP folder or in the same folder as the Visman plugins.

i don;t want to step on anyone's toes here...however..in today's age there are a requirement of 4 .dlls to add to the ..'windows 32'..i've made a link for those that would like it... http://rapidshare.com/...

if you are using just PSP9, hope you know that there are updates for it which will bring your program up to ..PSP9.01..

if i may also add:...all of my plug ins are put into a 'folder' all of their own as 'sub folders', which are in a major folder labeled just that..'plugins'...so when i need to incorporate a certain one i need, i open up
in my PSP under 'files'..'location'..then 'plug ins' ..Add.. find out where the new plug in would be...hit the 'OK' button , close down PSP...re-start it up...and "Bob's your Uncle"....there it is in 'Effects'.

........hope this was of some help.........Wolfie

Sorry, I had to remove the link. plugin.dll is copyrighted, so you are not allowed to distribute it. So I do not want to have a link to it on this forum. If anyone wants plugin.dll, he can download a trial version of an Adobe product to get it.

Secondly, the msvcrt.dll file in your package is different for every version of Windows and is already delivered with Windows, so installing it on some Windows systems may cause Windows to not work anymore.
