Transform to Shape?

Post by fbj »

Is there a way for PS CS2 to transform an image to fit a defined shape?

I'd like to create the form (eg an ellipse) and have the image (eg a rectangle) transformed/distorted to fit.

Thank You

PS I also own Illustrator..but have not used it in awhile...so an action/etc for Illustrator would work for me too.

Transform to Shape

I'm a real beginner and use PSP but this may help. With your image, active, copy it. Then with your blank or whatever you are putting your changed shape onto active, use your ellipse pre-set, select the ellipse and edit > paste > paste into the selection and your image is the shape of the ellipse.

I hope this makes sense to you.
Cheers,
Janet

In Illustrator there's the Envelope Distort, but it only works with vector files.

In Photoshop you could try using Displacement Maps.

The Edit....Transform...Warp technique will warp the image, as it Distorts it may not produce the visual effect you are after, however there are many control points to move so it is probably worth a try.
The only stupid question is the one you didn't ask
