MacOSZ compatible plugins
MacOSZ compatible plugins
I am considering the switch to OSX and have been using PS7 under OS9. However I use a large number of third party, shareware and freeware plugins that are entirely missing in OSX. The propaganda machine would have us believe that there are lots of developers writing shareware for OSX, but not apparently Photoshop plugins. Any plans to port Harry's filters?

Harry's Filter were created with Adobe's Filter Factory. Adobe was so nice to not release a MacOS X version of FilterFactory. So I don't see any hope for porting Harry's Filters to MacOS X. Sorry, it would mean too much work to do that for a freeware tool.
You can still use Classic Mode in OS X to run the OS9 software. It is a bit clumsy, but it works.

re:MacOSX plugins
Thanks Harald. That explains the scarcity of PS plugins for OSX.
Thanks, Adobe.
Thanks, Adobe.
Plugin scarcity on OS X
And of course the other reason for the scarcity of plugins for Photoshop on OS X - which Harald has written much about - is that as of version 7.0 Adobe no longer freely provides the SDK to developers. However, as I've mentioned in other fora, it's quite feasible to develop/port plugins for Photoshop 7.0 using earlier versions of the SDK (such as available on PS6 or earlier CDs).

Filter Factory is a different case, however...

Sorry, this would be a too complex task for a program. Only a human could do that and only if he had the source code of the KPT plugins.
I have been in contact with Corel recently, but they don't seem very interested to port the KPT products to OSX or even to sell the OS9 versions anymore. They have to pay too many royalty fees to former Metacreation guys. So it looks as if the KPT line is about to vanish.
