Current status of JPG2000?

Postby mhanke » Fri Oct 01, 2004 2:34 pm

I am very intrigued by the idea of distributing lossless compressed files. However, I understand that not all applications might display this format correctly. The last message on this topic I found in this forum dates from mid-2003. So, has anything changed since? Do current versions of web browsers show the JP2 files correctly?

Regards,
Marcus

I don't think there are any news regarding this format. I checked it some time ago and the site hadn't been updated in quite some time. I can't see a reason for not finally launching this format :(

Meanwhile I've been using PNG instead of JPG. Although it does have a relatively large size depending on what you use it for it is supported by many browsers (except for the alpha transparency in IE, although who needs IE when there's Firefox?) and graphic programs.
