Comments:

-> Hard drive apps rule in the performance area, but Web apps rule in accessibility. No one can deny that a Web-based calendar is not perfect for a couple or family trying to be on the same schedule. Users can see what is going on from work, home, or school, or any other kiosk, rather than being limited to single box. And who doesn't have a Web email account? :)

-> After 2 bad experiences with reputable web based software packages, I don't plan to buy web-based applications anymore.

-> Web applications are a technological trap

-> Web Applications aren't worth the snot their programmers stick under their chairs

-> Computers weren't made to only function if connected to other computers. They are independent machines.
What a silly question!!

-> When I find a program I can "fool" around with on the web, I usually give it a try...But they usually are limited to just a few functions and take quite a bit of time to render........So, for me, I would rather have the program on my hard drive (or hard drive as you have it here) to work with at my leasure.....

-> Web apps is another "innovative" idea of Bill Gates to make another billion. Avoid the idea.

-> If they are not free, I don't want to pay subscription fee every year. I want to own it. Besides, I trust my own computer more than the internet.

-> Why not just punch me in the face and rob me instead. I'm paying for it, I want to OWN it, not BORROW it. I want a hardcopy of it so if I decide to uninstall, redo, revamp, rebuild or any other re-whatever, I have the program to do with as I please. Thank you and good night. (Exits stage left)

-> When s/o wants to use an application, there are the following problems: Everywhere you want to use the software, you need a high-speed Internet connection. (Example: Re-Rendering some graphics) -> You have to transmit the large amount of data of a high-quality image you process. The web computer calculates and has to send back the image. In case of a jammed connection, you would have to start over again. And don't forget:Transmission costs time --- and money. While transmitting the images, the Inet connection has to be shared with the rest of the traffic and slows down everything else in progress. ... The only ones which are happy about web based applications are: TELCOS and HARDWARE SUPPLIERS!!!
CONCLUSION: FORGET ABOUT WEB APPLICATIONS!!! (But technology goes on, so you may ask me in five years again. You are welcome...)

Comments:

My only pointer is you get what you pay for & dont expect to get quality until you get up to around the $500 price rage or above. And what ever you do if it says polaroid & it's digital run away as fast as you can!

If you want a camera, you have to start with a manufacturer thats been making cameras since day dot. These aboritions that are made by other computer companies ... are a waste of money. You would be better off pissing on your money.

I, too, had to research long and hard before investing in a digital camera because I knew I would not be able to buy another any time soon.

Comments:

I love the eyedropper tool the most when you do the kind of work I do with Photoshop (Prosthetic Makeup Design). The eyedropper allows you to duplicate highlight and shadow colors in faces that are from diverse races. I love it I do!

By far, one of the handiest tools in Adobe PhotoShop 6 is the background eraser. It makes getting rid of unwanted backgrounds in photos a snap, and is a great help in weeding out unwanted pixels when you are trying to separate all the wires in a shopping cart basket from a background, for example. The tolerance can be set with the Magic Wand's tolerance.

You left out the "Sharpen" tool. In digital photography, that's one tool that gets used on almost every picture to some extent, regardless of what else is done to it.

Bar none [no pun intended] the MIRROR effect tool in Freehand 8 is the best. It allows me to configure kaleidoscopic imagery PRECISELY AND can make "anything" look fantanstic, from the lowliest design, typographic, or jpeg image. The results are usually spectacular and worth having on display in my home office.

Comments:

I have tried a most all from the list Illustrator, Freehand, Canvas, Xara, and more But none were good in comparison with COREL DRAW.

Tried CorelDraw, Illustrator, Fireworks etc; and struggling on a steep learning curve? Give XaraX a shot and look forward to a pleasant surprise. It's more than capable for most design needs, easy to learn, fast and doesn't need a super computer to run. I've tried all the others and keep coming back to XaraX - CorelXara was good but Xara is simply great

CorelDraw... you know that is the best. Freehand is very good but it's harder and falls in things such gradient tools. Corel is powerfull and easy to use.

i use adobe illustrator, macromedia freehand, and many other vector softwares but corel is the easiest to work with, specially when working with native psd files, its overloaded with tools that are useful, corel is the best vector graphic application i have used since, illustrator had only one page at a time, freehand is messy to use, specially with its gradient tools and so is illustrator.

I have been using Corel products since version 3.0. I have been employed as a designer since 1972. I have used both Illustrator and CorelDRAW. I use vector graphics in a print/production environment. For my money, Draw is just more user-friendly (imagine, four selection tools in Illustrator when you only need one!) I am not trashing Adobe as I use PhotoShop, PageMaker and InDesign, and Illustrator is a fine program. But in a production environment, it can't compare to Draw.
