Hello and Welcome

... to the Plugin Newsletter. Maybe you will recognize that I changed
the look of several pages at http://pico.i-us.com/. I tried to give the
web site a more unified look. I also added a new section called 'Plugin
News' with a description of this newsletter and access to the
newsletter's online archive. Any comments on the web site are welcome.

This issue is rather short, because I will follow up with a new issue
soon. The primary reason for this newsletter is the contest that I've
just started. I hope that many of you will take part in it, cause I
think that it will be very interesting and a lot of fun. Moreover you
can win some great prizes.

THE GALAXY CONTEST 2000

The Galaxy Contest 2000 is held from 25th July to 30th September 2000.
This contest is a showcase for the amazing effects that can be achieved
with edge, frame and plugin effects like those from the Edge & Frame and
Plugin Galaxy products. Its purpose is to inspire you to use them and
create your own art. This contest gives you the chance of unleashing
artistic freedom and presenting your work to the public.

The six categories people can submit their artwork to are:
A. Most Creative Usage (of a edge or frame effect)
B. Best Composed Image (using a edge or frame effect)
C. Most Impressive Creation (with plugin effects)
D. Nicest Background Texture (created with plugin effects)
E. Best Greeting Card
F. Best GIF Animation

This poll got 197 votes and was run for four weeks. Here are the charts:

NEW POLL: YOUR FAVOURITE FREEWARE IMAGE EDITING TOOL

The new poll asks you for voting for your favourite freeware application
for editing images. You can vote for one of 25 tools at
http://thepluginsite.com or http://pico.i-us.com. I only found three
free Macintosh image editing tools, so the majority of them are for
Windows. There's also an "Other" category that lets you enter the name
of a different application.

NEW EDGE TUTORIAL FOR CORELXARA

Visit the Edge & Frame page of the Other Effects section of Plugin Com
HQ for a tutorial on applying edges and frames to photos in CorelXARA.
You will also find edge tutorials for many other Windows and Macintosh
applications there. 50 free edges are also available for download.
