Stage 1
: This example is done with Bryce software, but you can create
similar effects with any other package which is designed for creating
3D landscapes. Start Bryce and create a new document. You may
wish to begin with the sky or you can leave that until later.
Stage 2
: Add a ground plane (or water) and call up the "Materials
Editor". From there you can load textures from the Mutations
or Abstraction CD and map them onto the ground plane. For this
example I've just used one texture (number 0578 from Mutation),
but it's possible to mix a number of them together to make more
complex patterns.
Stage 3
: Now add some land to your scene.. Again you can modify this
in the "Terrain Editor" and even load textures to use
for the shape of the land, but I've stuck with a basic random
terrain here.
Stage 4
: Select your terrain object and call up the "Materials Editor"
again, to wrap your land in a different texture. Try something
wierd and have some fun here! You can overlay various images if
you want to make something more complex.
Stage 5
: All that's left is to render your final scene. You may want
to experiment with different textures and sky/lighting settings
in order to achieve the result you are looking for, so save your
document and try a few variations before deciding on a final image
to use.
