Stage 1
: For this example you will need Poser software. Start the program
and create a suitable figure. I've chosen the "casual man"
sample included within Poser here.
Stage 2
: Lets begin by giving our figure a brighter shirt design! From
the Poser menu select "Render" then "Materials"
and this will bring up the Surface Material dialog box. In the
"Material" drop-down menu select "Shirt" and
then in the "Reflection Map" section load a texture
from the Mutation or Abstraction CD. I've used number 0325 from
Mutation here. You can do the same thing for the trousers if you
wish (0303 used here).
Stage 3
: If you want to give your character a wierd-looking skin you
just use the same method as above. In the Surface Material dialog
select "Skin" from the "Material" drop-down
menu the go to the "Reflection Map" section and load
a texture. I've used number 0400 from Mutation.
Stage 4
: You don't need to stay within Poser if you want to try some
more experimental effects. After rendering your final image and
saving it, open up the image in your photo-editor and try adding
more textures to it in different ways.
Stage 5
: I've chosen texture number 0534 from Mutation to add the final
effect to this image. In Photoshop paste the image on a new layer
above the 3D figure and set the layer mode to "Overlay".
This creates a strange blending effect and colour cast. I've removed
some of the top layer with the "Eraser" tool in order
to make the shirt show through more clearly.
