Stage 1
: I'm sure that you must have lots of photos in your collection
that need brightening up, right?! All those pics taken on dark
cloudy days, that turn out drab and lifeless. So lets give them
a splash of color by overlaying some texures in your favourite
photo-editing package. Start by opening a photo.
Stage 2
: Now choose a suitable texture from the Abstraction or Mutation
CD. Try to use something that doesn't have too much detail in.
It's best to use an image with smoother blends. I have used number
0303 from Abstraction.
Stage 3
: Paste the image over your photo and set the layer options to
"Color" mode. Then add a layer transparency mask and
use a linear gradient to blend the image into the sky area.
Stage 4
: You could pick a different texture for the next part if you
wanted, but I've chosen to stick with the same one and invert
it then rotate 180 degrees.
Stage 5
: Paste this on a new layer and set the mode to "Saturation"
in order to give the strange green glow to the water! You can
experiment with different layering modes to find out what tint
is most suitable. Finally, tweak the brightness and contrast levels
until you reach the best result.
