In Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro and Photo-Paint the presets are named with the image file name, but in other application a random number is used. This allows you to find the settings that you applied to certain images later again.
      • New Logged Settings option in the On Start Up combo box of the Prefs tab. If activated, it will automatically open the settings that were applied the last time to the current image. It only works if you previously had the Log Settings check box activated and if you are using Photoshop and Paint Shop Pro.
      • New Auto1, Auto2, Auto3 and Auto4 settings in the On Start Up combo box of the Prefs tab.
      • New Logged Settings option in the On Reset combo box of the Prefs tab.
      • New Histo Zoom check box in the Prefs tab that cuts off peaks to avoid a flat histogram display. That's also how Photoshop displays histograms.
  • Improvements:
    • The Auto Contrast feature works more reliable on 16bit images.
    • The Highlights and Shadows sliders from the Extras tab don't change the saturation anymore. In previous versions the Highlights/Shadows sliders always used the Sat Fix effect, even if the Sat Fix check box wasn't activated.
    • The Autodetect option of Exposure Fix works more reliable on photos with both strong shadows and highlights.
    • The slider edit boxes were made smaller and the sliders were made a bit longer.
    • Bug Fix: Cloak Mode didn't work correctly in some applications.
    • Bug Fix: Exposure Fix didn't work correctly when Auto Contrast was set to Off.
    • Bug Fix: Unexpected brightness increase at slider certain settings was fixed.
    • Bug Fix: For 16bit images the Exposure Fix previously didn't work with Standard Light and Special Case cast types.
    • Bug Fix: The descriptions of Auto1 and Auto2 were swapped in the manual.
    • Demo Version: A white watermark is now applied instead of a red one.

Windows Version 2.0 (File Date: May 31, 2004)

  • New Features:
    • More effective color correction with the new Standard cast type and improved Autodetect option
    • Greatly improved exposure correction with four new Exposure Fix options and a new Sensitivity slider
    • Support for 16bit RGB images
    • ColorWasher now processes huge images while using little RAM by processing them tile after tile.
    • Resizable window and preview
    • Saturation feature for adjusting the saturation according to 10 different methods
    • Histogram Display of ten different image parameters in four different styles
    • New Boost checkbox for improving the contrast correction of certain images was added.
    • New H-Contrast and S-Contrast sliders for adjusting the contrast of the Highlights and Shadows corrections. The old Midtones slider was removed, because setting the two new sliders to their highest value produces a similar effect.
    • Multiple checkbox for comparing original and corrected image side by side
    • Color Cast Statistics: The color cast intensity, the remaining color cast and the effectivity of the cast removal are displayed in percent values.
    • New Info tab sheet that displays the preview rendering time as well as color Information and coordinates while moving the mouse over the preview. There is also a Show Blown Highlights check box and a Drag Output check box for applying the effect while the image is moved in the preview.
    • New Prefs tab sheet for selecting start up, Reset button and preview behaviour.
  • Improvements:
    • Color:
      • Red and orange casts are removed much better with the help of the Autodetect option.
      • The Standard Light cast type (previously know as Hybrid) was improved to avoid hard edges in some cases.
      • The Auto4 button was renamed to Auto5. There is a new Auto4 button for special cases.
      • The CastTypes combo box now contains an "Off" option for deactivating the color correction. The order of the options has been changed according to their usefulness.
      • The cast types were renamed to more understandable terms.
    • Contrast & Brightness:
      • The Contrast slider uses percent values and works more logically.
      • The Exposure slider was changed to EV units. It ranges from -3.00 EV to +3.00 EV, which lets you do stronger corrections than before.
      • The Histo Fix now also supports the Exposure feature
      • The Highlights and Shadows sliders work more effectively as their effect isn't compensated by the Exposure Fix feature anymore.
    • Dialog:
      • New dialog layout with three tab controls
      • The XP-Style is suppressed under Windows XP and the Skin features from Version 1.0 were removed.
      • All controls are now complient to the Windows color sheme. But if you change the Windows color sheme while ColorWasher is running, you need to restart ColorWasher to make it adapt to the new color sheme.
      • "Quick & Easy Mode" was renamed to" Easy Mode" and "Chroma" was renamed to "Sat Fix".
      • A MouseOver effect was added
    • Other Improvements:
      • ColorWasher updates the preview much faster at higher zoom rates, because it now only evaluates the image area that is visible in the preview.
      • ColorWasher always display the whole image in the preview when running it. This is the recommended way to work with it.
      • New preset file format that contains all plugin settings. The old preset files are still supported, but they only affect the color settings.
      • Some split view options now even work if the color, contrast and exposure correction is deactivated.
      • Cloak Mode works more reliable. It now does some precalculations, which take longer if the ColorWasher window is larger.
      • Shift clicking the Reset button now resets all controls, so that no correction is applied to the image. Clicking on the Reset button doesn't erase the color from the color boxes anymore.
      • The help texts for the controls are longer and more detailed.
      • If Split View is deactivated, you can hold down the Alt key to drag the preview image with the left instead of the right mouse button.
      • When the B/W button is activated, it is now rendered to the image when pressing OK. Previously you had to hold down the CTRL key when pressing OK.
      • Undo now restores the Source and Taget colors, which was prevented by a bug before.
      • The manual was extended and improved
      • Many smaller bugs were fixed

Windows Version 1.02 (File Date: June 27, 2003)

Windows Version 1.01 (File Date: March 4, 2003):

Enhancements:

    • ColorWasher needs 33% less memory during the final rendering. That means that you can process larger images with the same amount of RAM and avoid using virtual memory which can slow down the rendering.
    • The automatic color, contrast and exposure values aren't recalculated during the final rendering. This has the following advantages:
      • The final result will look exactly like the preview
      • You are now able to correct images that are larger than 50 MB (5000 x 3750 pixel) without problems
      • The final rendering will be approx. 10% faster
    • New Skin which looks much better under Windows XP. ColorWasher's default skin was optimized for the XP theme as well as the Classic theme.
    • Split View isn't automatically switched off when exiting ColorWasher. The Split View option will be restored when running ColorWasher again.

    New Features:

    • New Zoom Combo Box for selecting a specific zoom ratio as well as fitted and optimal zoom.
    • Several new ALT-Key Shortcuts indicated by an underlined letter. For example: Press ALT and + to increase the preview zoom, ALT and U to trigger Undo, ALT and 1 to perform the Auto1 feature.
    • Image selections can now be seen in the preview. The color correction is only applied to the area of the image selection in ColorWasher.
    • 25 new color presets

Bug Fixes:

    • The Autodetect setting of the Cast Types feature doesn't fail anymore for green color casts when adjusting the color boxes
    • When using ColorWasher for the first time, it won't fit the image fully into the preview (= optimal zoom) and instead show the full image in the preview to avoid problems with some less compatible image applications.
    • The zoom controls are now deactivated in Picture Publisher to avoid problems
    • No error message when using ColorWasher on certain kind of selections in Paint Shop Pro
    • Black-checkbox-problem that occurred in Paint Shop Pro 8 and PhotoPaint 11 under Windows XP was fixed.
