Why increased file sizes?

Harald:
I have noticed that after using any of the Plugins (Color Washer, Light Machine and Focal Blade) that my file sizes will jump from around 3Mb up to over 10Mb sometimes. I am wondering what is causing this change in fille size, since I do not notice any extra layers added to the images.

Stan, are you looking at the file size when you save the file or just on the status bar?

What file format do you use for saving the images? JPEG?
If that is the case, I am not too surprised. If you sharpen oder increase the brightness of an image and save it as JPG, the file size increases. If you blur or darken an image its JPG file size decreased. If you enhance an image, its JPEG file size always increases.
But a jump from 3 to 10 MB sounds a bit much. I would rather expect that a 3 MB JPEG file would increase to 4 or 5 MB.

Most of my files have gone up to 4 or 5 MB, but a few have gone up to close to 10MB after correcting and sharpening.

I guess those file that have gone up to 10 MB were quite dark or blurry and you brightened or sharpened them a lot.
