Hi.. all
I have problem with eye candy 3.1,
follow the instructions when install after that
when open my psp, and try using the eyecandy3.1
open the small pop when ask for l number, name , etc..
I am put all what request..
after click ok..
open other small pop and said

UNABLE TO OPEN OR CREATE SETTINGS FILE EYECANDY3.INI.

please need you help what I do

You need to activate write permissions for the folder in which the Eye Candy 8bf file is located. Eye Candy 3.1 is quite old, so it assumes that it can write to its folder, which is not possible if you are not logged in as an administor in a newer version of Windows.

8bf is going to file in the eyecandy 3.1
Right click and run with the administrator? .. would be the way?
that the same goes for the UleadGifX2 ..
I have the Systema Window 7

You could run PSP as administrator, but much easier is to change the write permissions. To do that right click on the Eye Candy folder and select Proprties. On one of the tab sheets you can change the permissions.

well... try to explain what I did
the psp icon I clicked right
I did the following route

PROPERTIES/COMPATIBILITY/RUN THIS PROGRAM AS AN ADMINISTRATOR/APPLY/OK

after this, I opened the program psp , testing again
( eyecandy - uleadgifX2 - digitalfilmstools )
and worken again as before...

wow.... I'am happy again really

This is an old post, but I have the same problem. how to I fix this in Windows 8.1. I have Eye Candy 3.1 in folder but no place to run as admin.
Hope someone has answer.
Also a previous version of Eye Candy was deleted from computer, but still shows up in my plugin list. How do I remove that item?

Right click on your host application icon, e.g. Photoshop, and choose "Run as administrator".

Look for the Eye Candy .8bf file in the plugin folder of your host application and delete it to remove it.

I went into and set the write premissions. Haven't installed new version of Eye Candy yet.

As for the other 'phantom listing'. I did a search for Eye Candy 3.1 on all my folders on computer, deleted every mention and this still appears in Effects/Plugins/Eye Candy 3.1
I also went folder by folder thru drive C\ and there is no eye candy file anywhere.

Eye Candy 3.1 consist of the files "EC3-ENG.8BF" and "EyeCand3.8bf". Please do a search for them and delete them.
