Does anyone know of a plugin that simulates yarn in Photoshop? Example: If I draw a line, it will look like a string of yarn.
I would greatly appreciate any info.
Thanks.

Not offhand, but that's a very cool idea! I think you might need to look into various illustration apps.
Microsoft is still offering FREE versions of the Expression illustration application it bought from Creature House of Hong Kong back in 2003. You can install all sorts of brushes for it, some of which may fit your needs. You draw with vector lines but the results look textured. Other than this, you might look into PSP or Painter tubes (?). Free digital imaging ezine (and discounted plug-ins!)

This isn't a plug-in, and I don't know how to do BB Code, sorry, but here is the link to my Yarn Stitching Action which creates textured yarn in any color and lets you "stitch" it along any path or freehand:
http://www.woolsweaterstreet.com/scrapbooking/actions.html I am also working on a freehand drawing action for continuous yarn. Here is a preview: http://www.woolsweaterstreet.com/scrapbooking/ks_yarndrawingaction.jpg[/url] I make my actions for the digital scrapbooking market but they will work for any digital artist, they work at 300 ppi. Actions, Brushes, etc.Dear Karen,
I love your actions, brushes, etc. I do not have Photoshop. Are they compatible with Paint Shop Pro X2? Please, please, say yes. You do not actually list your email address on your website and Outlook is not working on my machine. Thanks, Lynda Friends are flowers in the gift of life.
Re: Actions, Brushes, etc.
Hi Lynda, My actions can only be used in Photoshop, versions CS-CS4. Photoshop actions and PSP Scripts are not interchangeable, unfortunately! My brushes can be converted to PSP, or I can make you PSP versions of them, but the brushes I use in my actions depend on steps in the actions and Photoshop layer styles to create the effects shown. I do have a small section for PSP on my website, did you see it? I have 2 sets of brushes for PSP that are versions of my Photoshop brushes. I'd like to do PSP versions of some of my actions but don't know PSP well enough yet. You can email me at karenstimson@yahoo.com. Hugs, Karen
Actions, Brushes, etc.Dear Karen,
Thanks for your very quick response. I am really disapointed. I will have to look into the purchase of Photoshop CS - CS4. If you ever do more work in Paint Shop Pro X2 please let me know. Thanks, Lynda Friends are flowers in the gift of life.
Actions, Brushes, etc.Dear Karen,
Well, CS - CS4 is really beyond my budget. Do actions work in Photoshop Elements? Thanks, Lynda Friends are flowers in the gift of life.
Actions, Brushes, etc.Hi, Karen
Another question, please. There is a free program called "GIMP" that is supposed to be Photoshop compatible. Will your actions, etc., work on that program? Thanks, Lynda Friends are flowers in the gift of life.
Yes, actions can be used in Photoshop Elements, but as Elements does not offer all Photoshop features, some action operations may not work. See here for instructions: http://graphicssoft.about.com/od/pselem ... ctions.htm
Better get a trial version of Elements and try it before you purchase it. GIMP does not support actions.
Sorry I didn't respond sooner, just getting used to this forum! My Photoshop actions won't work "out of the box" in PSE but I am working on converting some of them. If you'd like me to let you know when I have my first actions for Elements ready, would you PM me at karenstimson@yahoo.com? TY!
Hugs, Karen
Appreciated info, its good to know..

Just FYI to anyone who might be interested, I have a section in my online store for PSE actions. You can find it at:
http://woolsweaterstreet.com/boutique/i ... rbigstlli7 My actions for Elements will work in version 5-9.
Re: Yarn / Crochet Styles PluginThere are a few different ways to simulate yarn, but the stitching that you have displayed Karen is probably the best way to go about it. I prefer to work in illustrator when I run into any issues regarding yarn or string, but this is just proof that everybody works in their own way. Productive thread.
