plug in to make a picture out of lots of 'small pictures'
Hi
I am looking for a program or a plug-in which can create a new image out of lots of small images. Made up just like the pixels in a normal picture these small images creates a new image, but if you zoom in you see its only lots of different images which are the basis of the 'big image'.
Any ideas.......
thanx

Re: plug in to make a picture out of lots of 'small pictures
At one time, PhotoSuite had the option to make mosaics. I believe that PhotoSuite 4 was the last one capable of mosaics. Perhaps it could still be found out there for a very reasonable price.

I forgot to mention one possible negative aspect of PhotoSuite's mosaic capability, which I believe they called "PhotoTapestry". It' comes with a CD containing loads of images to make a mosaic, but I don't think you can use a huge batch of your own images to make one. You can turn your own image into a mosaic, but the tiny images making that mosaic have to come from their disc. By the way, this is a PC-only product.
I know of a program that does this
I know of a program that does this. I don't believe it is a plugin. It is called centarsia. It will cost you nothing. The first time you use the program I think you can use up to 250 photos. Then you can send a postcard image of your collage to the developer and he will send you an email with a password that will unlock the ability to use as many photographs as you want.
The program is pretty neat and costs nothing but postage. You should be able to find it "centarsia".

Mosaics
There was a free plugin called Mosaic Studio 1.0, but evolved into a commercial stand alone application. Now it's property of a taiwanese company called e-motion.
If anyone have a copy of the original plugin, please tell me: thealghazi@yahoo.com.ar

As far as I can see Mosaic Studio 1.0 was shareware since 1999. I can't imagine that it was freeware released as freeware before that date.
They had a homepage at http://www.mosaicstudio.net/, but it is down now, so I assume that the product has been discontinued. You can't register it as that web site is down. However, the company's main web site is still available at http://www.emotion.co.kr/
Mosaic Studio 1.0 is still available for download on some shareware sites.
By the way here is comparison of different photo mosaic tools: http://www.aolej.com/mosaic/compare.htm

Finally I've found a copy of the e-motion Mosaic Studio 1.0 plugin for Photoshop (not the standalone app) on ZDnet Korea. It's free to use for images smaller than 1Mb. Anyone know where can I buy a license to register it? e-Motion (http://www.emotion.co.kr/) doesn't seem like a friendly site for me!!! (sorry for my terrible english but I speak spanish and just a little english)
Hello,
You should try an online photo-mosaic service.
Example:
pictosaic.com
You select your topics, like cats, flowers, love, car, ...
Some other option (resolution, your image into the mosaic, ...)
You send your image
A few seconds later, it's be back as a photo-mosaic
Bonus: It's free

I find Foto-mosaik a great Free ( no costs..Ads or malware ) program.
go to http://www.snapfiles.com/get/fotomosaic.html to download.
The home page seems to be down.
You will be asked to send the creator of the program a snail mail postcard, not compulsory, but a small courtesy for a great free program
