Dear Reader,

I hope you had such a great year 2014 as we had here at The Plugin Site. As the year will end soon it is time to look forward. Product plans for next year include a fourth workflow plugin as well as ElementsXXL 3. We will also work on releasing new updates of the PhotoWiz plugin as well as probably upgrade one of it fundamentally. Please let us know which new products you would like to see from us by participating in the latest poll. See below!

Effective immediately, we do not ship CDs of our products anymore. Whereas almost 33% of all customers wanted a CD 15 years ago, the demand has now dropped to less than 1%. So it does not make much sense to offer CD shipment anymore. If you nevertheless want a CD of an ordered product, please contact us and see if we can make an exception. Also check out our Xmas Specials below.

I wish you a great new year 2015!

Kind regards,
Harald Heim

POLL RESULTS

How much would you maximally pay for a useful plugin?

118 people participated in the latest poll. Here are the results:

Price Vote Buyers

$300 3% 3%
$250 1% 4%
$200 2% 6%
$150 3% 9%
$120 5% 14%

$100 14% 28%

$80 8% 36%
$70 3% 39%
$60 3% 42%

$50 24% 66%

$40 6% 71%
$30 6% 77%
$25 3% 79%
$20 8% 86%
$15 4% 90%
$10 4% 93%
$5 2% 96%
$2 2% 98%
$1 1% 100%

Almost 1/3 of all voters would buy a useful plugin at a price of $100 whereas 2/3 would definitely only spend $50. That means that selling a standard plugin for $50 seems to produce the most profit. 15% less profit is gained at $100. The same poll in 2009 suggested a slightly better profit (4% more) for a $100 plugins sales price. Another poll from 2011 that asked specifically about our own plugins, suggested that a $50 price would be 23% more profitable compared to $100. So there seems to be a trend towards lower prices for Photoshop plugins.

64-bit Editor Supporting 32-bit Plugins

Here is the latest interesting post from The Plugin Site Forums:

Edin Karcic wrote: "Is there a 64-bit image editor that can handle 32-bit Photoshop plugins (8bf) ? There are a lot of very nice 32 but plugins, that we cannot use in modern 64-bit image editors. ... I am afraid that, being stuck in the 32-bit world, many very valuable 32-bit plugins will become irrelevant."
